Nerd Chick Becomes Incredible Nerd Inspiration

by adrianne on August 23rd, 2011

Nerd FitnessSo of course I love this story. Nerdy girl becomes fitness superstar. Some pretty interesting advice in there.

Here are the highlights of the story from the original article on

“Staci’s story is awesome for a number of reasons, but a few in particular stand out to me:

  • Working a sedentary desk job, Staci slowly packed on weight and ate like a typical unhealthy American.
  • Before getting educated, she tried to get in shape by doing what 95% of the female population does when they try to lose weight: she ran a lot and essentially starved herself – Not surprisingly, she dropped to an incredibly low and unhealthy weight.
  • She educated herself, cleaned up her diet, and immediately started feeling and living better.
  • She found the Nerd Fitness community, discovered a love for barbell strength training, and started lifting HEAVY weights.

She’s now in the best shape of her life, healthier and happier than ever before.”

Yippee Ki Yay….

There is one thing that Batman and middle class white girls from the suburbs have in common, an aversion to guns. That’s probably why I never shot one until this year. My experience with guns has been previously limited to shooting army men in the yard with a BB gun, laser tag, and feeling really badass playing Time Crisis at the arcade. Love it or hate it we live in a gun obsessed culture and I wanted to experience it first hand by pumping some hot lead into some rich American soil. So on my thirtieth birthday I headed out to the Family Shooting Center in Colorado’s Cherry Creek State Park with a head full of John Mclane based dreams to fire a deadly weapon for the very first time.

A proper cat burglar has to be in peak physical condition. Between my aerial classes at Miraas and parkour classes at Apex I’m usually too sore to add too many workouts in between. Although, I am hoping to add a day of running in there somewhere when I can will my body to move again. (more…)

Ode to the Untalented

I’m not an athlete. I wanna make that clear. When I grew up I was much more interested in playing Nintendo than I ever was about playing sports. When I ran the mile in grade school the teachers sent other kids after me to try and make me run faster so I would finish it before the period ended. I did do some physical activities growing up, we had a trampoline, I did some martial arts, horseback riding, American Gladiator reenactments with my brother, usual kid stuff, but I was never one of those kids who got their black belt in gymnastics while driving from soccer practice to tap class. Welcome to Cat Burglars!

by adrianne on May 7th, 2009

Welcome to Cat Burglars. This is the first of what I hope will be many posts about our adventures. We’ve posted a little about who and what we’re about under ‘The Mission‘ and the ‘About‘ tabs above. To sum it all up, we are two normal gals who are looking to push our physical abilities to the limit by learning a series of action hero stunts and skills.

We will post our progress, experiences, helpful information, inspirational links, and whatever else strikes our fancy.
