Luci Steel is Beautiful

by adrianne on July 13th, 2012

Beautiful

Luci “Steel” Romberg of the Tempest Freerunning family and five foot embodiment of most of my aspirations is making a movie. The Kickstarter page raising funds for the film says it “will combine top-level film making with world class freerunning as a way to visualize Luci’s journey and discovery of her own beauty truly is.” It goes on to say she struggled with an eating disorder until she discovered Freerunning which boosted her self confidence and changed her perception of beauty. National Geographic describes heist of the future

There has been a lot of buzz on the internet about the real life creation of an invisibilty cloak. Now it looks like they’ve found a way to expand that technology on a large scale to conceal entire EVENTS. Looks like science just told magic to suck it’s shiney light manipulating balls.

My favorite part of this story is National Geographic explaining the real world applications of such a device…

“In theory, the cloak would slow down light coming into the robbery scene while the safecracker is at work. When the robbery is complete, the process would be reversed, with the slowed light now racing to catch back up.”

“If the “before” and “after” visions are seamlessly stitched together, there should be no visible trace that anything untoward has happened. One second there’s a closed safe, and the next second the safe has been emptied.”

Sounds like someone has their retirement plan figured out.

Heather saves the world

by adrianne on June 24th, 2011

Climbing Walls PosterMy very quiet partner in crime is at it again. Saving the world one knee hang at a time. For those of you not in the know, my partner Heather runs an aerial dance studio here in Denver. She is having a fundraiser this weekend for the Climbing Walls: Youth Circus for a Brighter Future. She is raising money for travel expenses to Israel to bring Arab, Jews, Ethiopians, Russian, Druze, Christians, youth at risk, Israeli groups and overseas through the medium of circus arts. She will be fulfilling a lifelong dream to improve international relations by creating bonds through physical activity. Hopefully she will be sharing some of her experiences here when she returns.

Performance Time

by adrianne on April 23rd, 2011

I know I’ve been behind on my articles, but I promise I have a good excuse. I just performed in my very first aerial student show! What an absolute thrill. You can see videos of all the performances at the new Miraas YouTube channel.

And of course my performance (and my artwork on the title cards)..

Rest assured, I am hard at work on a new article about the physical toll of such a lovely art.

Ode to the Untalented

by adrianne on March 21st, 2011

I’m not an athlete. I wanna make that clear. When I grew up I was much more interested in playing Nintendo than I ever was about playing sports. When I ran the mile in grade school the teachers sent other kids after me to try and make me run faster so I would finish it before the period ended. I did do some physical activities growing up, we had a trampoline, I did some martial arts, horseback riding, American Gladiator reenactments with my brother, usual kid stuff, but I was never one of those kids who got their black belt in gymnastics while driving from soccer practice to tap class. Welcome to Cat Burglars!

by adrianne on May 7th, 2009

Welcome to Cat Burglars. This is the first of what I hope will be many posts about our adventures. We’ve posted a little about who and what we’re about under ‘The Mission‘ and the ‘About‘ tabs above. To sum it all up, we are two normal gals who are looking to push our physical abilities to the limit by learning a series of action hero stunts and skills.

We will post our progress, experiences, helpful information, inspirational links, and whatever else strikes our fancy.
